Recorder Karate Student and Teacher Responsibilities
Student Responsibilities
1. Students will follow all of the school policies, musical classroom rules and school wide online netiquette guidelines. 2. You will be responsible for bringing all of the required and necessary resources to class (recorder, book and pencil). 3. Students will read all of the directions carefully before beginning each lesson. 4. If you miss music class, you will be expected to make up the work from the week so that you will not fall behind in performing on the recorder. Students will be expected to complete missed lessons, assessments and discussion board posts online during a scheduled time with Mrs. Danielak or at home if possible. Students will have one week to complete the weekly lesson. For every week that they are late in completing the lesson, their overall participation grade for that work will be lowered one letter grade. 5. Students will be able to use their resources to complete all assessments and assignments throughout this course. 6. COLLABORATIVE PROJECT: Students will work in a group and perform a piece on the recorder in at least two parts. There can be no more than two students on each part. This project will be assigned after the forth piece of music in the Recorder Karate Book has been completed. Students will be able to choose their group and which piece they would like to learn out of Mrs. Danielak’s repertoire bin. |
Teacher Responsibilities
1. Students are encouraged to ask questions in class and outside of class via e-mail or discussion board. Mrs. Danielak will respond within forty-eight hours. 2. The instructions for the lessons each week will be clear and easy to understand in a step-by-step format. 3. Mrs. Danielak will manage the schedule and workload so that students will be able to complete the program during the school year. She will ensure that the lesson content is taught appropriately at a third grade level. 4. Lessons will be tailored to meet the requirements set forth by the State of Michigan and the National Standards for Music Education. 5. There will be additional activities provided for accelerated learners to earn more Recorder Karate Belts. 6. Students will be aware of their progress throughout the course. If a student is ever in question about their grade in the class, Mrs. Danielak will be happy to provide feedback as quickly as possible. 7. The teacher will post questions on the discussion board as part of the weekly lesson for reflection and to gauge student understanding. 8. Mrs. Danielak will provide feedback on assessments and discussion board posts within two days from completion. |
